31 and a half week update!

Whew! It's been so long since I've typed in this pretty little white box :) I've really missed it and I'm dissapointed because I wanted to be better about documenting the little things throughout this pregnancy.

Basically the last month has been filled with baby showers, family, and settling into our new house. Yep, we got to move! Now instead of our little trailer we have a two story beautiful home :) that has pretty much taken up all of my energy, I never realized how truly difficult being pregnant is, its exhausting! In a really good way though.

A sign I loved in my aunt's house.
The fabric my mama and I picked for Bennett's bedding!

I got to travel up to Seattle and spend time with my amazing family and see tons of friends too! It was so amazingly refreshing. And I got spoiled rotten at both showers. Thank you to those of you who helped out and came! I am so blessed by you.

Our adorable nephew, Logan.
Zach and sleeping Will.. a preview for when Bennett comes!

Zach's parents, sister & brother-in-law, and nephews got to come out to San Diego this month, and it was so great spending time with them. I fell more in love with our sweet nephews and grew so much more appreciative for my amazing inlaws. Seriously, I scored in the inlaw department.

Other than that, my life has been consumed with thoughts and preparations for Bennett. It's crazy that this little person has completely taken over and he isn't even here yet. I find myself daydreaming about what he'll look like, what his snuggles will feel like, and if he'll wiggle as much out of my belly as he does while he's in there :) I pray for him to have a good temperament and to be a joyful person, to grow up to be strong in the Lord and respectful of others, to have a sense of humor and to be confident. I already love this little boy so much, and I just can't wait to meet him!

A progression of bump pictures from the last couple of weeks :)

Baby's size:  According to thebump.com, baby is the size of a pineapple!
Sleep:  ...I'm sorry, what is that?
Maternity Clothes:  I've snuck in a few sweatshirts and vests that arent maternity, but I am carrying this baby completely in front so non-maternity tops are pretty much not an option at this point
Food cravings:  Still haven't really had any cravings.

Symptoms I have:  Exhausted, achy back, cranky :)

Labor signs: None yet, although I should start feeling Braxton Hicks contractions anyday!

Stretch Marks: None so far, thankfully. I still attest this to Delighted Momma's stretch mark oil.

Swelling: In my face mostly. My fingers too, but not my ankles yet.

Doctor’s Appointment: I have one today with my ob, and go to a specialist in two weeks. I have a low platelet level so my ob wants me to see a hematologist and then a high risk pregnancy doctor just to make sure everything is alright and also to prepare for what could happen during delivery. Prayers appreciated :)
Movement:  All the time, seriuously this kid doesn't sit still ever. Now he's big enough I can see him moving which is just weird.
Belly Button:   Super flat, not looking like it will pop out though.
Best moment of the week: Going through all of the baby things we've gotten, organizing, washing everything, and putting it away :)
What I’m looking forward to: Getting Bennett's room painted and setting up his crib and dresser so that it looks like it's ready for him!

What I miss: Being able to bend over without groaning, and putting on my own socks and shoes haha.

24 Week Update

Don't mind my puffy face.. I had just woken up ok :)

Baby's size: 8.5 inches "an ear of corn"

Sleep: Intermittent. Definitely depends on the night!

Maternity Clothes: I think I'm going to delete this question because that's all I can wear now.

Food cravings:  No real cravings, just when I hear something then I have to have it. Like. Now. ex: blue slurpees, banana bread, pretzels with cheese...

Symptoms I have:  Tiredness, cramping, really tight belly skin, sore lower back.

Doctor’s Appointment: uneventful, next time I get a TB test and the whooping cough/tetanus shot

Movement: ALL.THE.TIME. I love it. And I love when Zach gets to feel him, and my friends at camp like to feel him. It's my favorite :)

Belly Button:   Very very flat!

Best moment of the week: Probably bursting into hysterical tears at the labor scene in Juno. Zach had no idea what to do with me.
What I’m looking forward to: Moving into our new house!

What I miss: Sleep, wine, not achy back.

I am getting so antsy to meet our little man! We have been so blessed with already receiving thoughtful gifts for him.

14/15 Week Update

I love reading updates from friends, so I decided to do these weekly updates every once in awhile. Not sure it'll be every week, but we will see!

Here is a picture from a week ago. This week I've grown a bit but I didn't want to take another photo!

Baby's size: at the doc last week it was 3.75 inches

Sleep: Not so much. My belly muscles ache and cramp at night so it's hard to fall asleep. I wake up everytime I roll over, too, because of the funny feeling in my tummy!

Maternity Clothes: Pants for sure. My mom spoiled me when I was home & I got the jeans in the photo above at Kohls, they are SO comfy and so cute, too!

Food cravings:  Not really craving anything, but if I read something on a blog or on facebook I can't get it out of my head all day. Like today, Audrey said something about chocolate ice cream. Currently, my husband is on his way home from the store to get me some! Don't forget, we live an hour from a store. Yes, I picked a good one.

Symptoms I have: Vomiting, tired, emotional.

Doctor’s Appointment: We had one last week and got to see the baby swimming around in there. Most amazing thing I've ever seen. Another appointment in three weeks and (fingers crossed) the baby will be in the right position to find out the gender!!

Movement: It moves a LOT, but I can't feel it yet.

Belly Button:
 Same as always :)

Best moment of the week:
Our unexpected ultrasound and seeing the baby moving so much!

What I’m looking forward to: Finding out the gender!! AHHH can't wait to know & not call it "it" anymore!

What I miss: Sleeping through the night! And not being afraid to eat.

The 4th of July Without Fireworks

...what's up with that, anyways!

Yesterday we worked all day and we considered going to Temecula for fireworks (and groceries, lets be honest) but I thought by the time we get down there it would be 8pm and probably no parking close by the park, so instead we stayed home :) I'm really good at making excuses to stay home, especially now that we live an hour from everything.

First I had to construct a red, white, and blue outfit. I don't wear much blue, and I don't own ANYTHING red so I made a makeshift bow out of my craft drawer! I actually ended up liking it though.

At work we had a parade, each department made their own "float" and we drove around the loop once. I thought it was going to be really dumb, but it ended up being a blast!!

Us office girls led the parade, we were all "Miss Palomar" and sat on the back of a BMW convertible. It was hilarious.

I have to say my favorite was the maintenance crew though, they all brought out a tractor thing or riding lawn mower and rode them around the loop. Zach led the crew in the skid steer and would do twirlies going backwards sometimes. He cracks me up :) I so wish I had a picture of them but I was too busy waving to all my fans (haha!) Edit: I found one on Facebook ... look how manly my hubby is :)

Anyways, we ended up on the couch last night eating nachos for dinner and watching 50/50. Have y'all seen that movie?? I cried through the whole thing but I really liked how it ended. Of course my favorite part was the love story intertwined through it and it made me all snuggly for Zach afterwards. I know, I'm pathetic.

Overall it was a fun day! Next year though, we have to find fireworks. It will be baby Harris' first 4th! I'm thinking we'll have to do a beach day like Jamie, she is a wise one with that idea!

But, did you hear what happened at the San Diego fireworks show?? Oops, better luck next year.

this baby in my tummy

being pregnant is a funny thing. i mean i know there's a baby in there, although a very small one, but it's really hard to actually believe it. i've been focusing on being sick, being tired, being cranky -- because those are "touchable" things. I feel them, see them, taste them. i think a part of me is really, really afraid of having a baby. part of it is the fear of loss. what if something happens between now and January? what if something happens after then? if I allow my heart to love this baby, admit it's there, i fear that i will lose it. every time I get a tiny cramp my heart drops.

anyways, i was thinking about it yesterday & i want to make sure i don't seem ungrateful. i've posted a few statuses on facebook about feeling like the life is being sucked out of me (which it kind of is) and being sick all the time (which I am) -- but I want to focus on this tiny life inside of me instead of how I feel. because this time, it's just not about me. its about this baby. our baby. not someone elses, but mine. mine to love, to teach, to grow, to discipline. to shape into the best person it can be. the truth is, i am so grateful. this is something i have wanted my entire life, and in the most recent years & months i've even dreamt about. i long to know this child, to snuggle it and hold it and let it need me. i'm so afraid of that never happening; i'm allowing fear to hold my instead of love. i need to let myself love the life in my tummy.

i'm so thankful for this little baby. i'm thankful that without much thought or effort, the stick said "Pregnant" the first time i peed on it. nowadays, that is definitely not always the case.

i'm learning how not to live in fear, how to allow myself to love this baby without meeting it, even with the chance i may never meet it on this earth. i trust Him though, no matter what happens. and with Him i have hope that i will indeed get to hold this baby in my arms in just a few months.

oh sweet baby, see the turmoil you're already causing in my brain? we've got a long road ahead of us...

and i can't wait to see where it takes us =)

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage...

It's time I finally told y'all the REAL reason I've been completely absent these last few weeks!

Baby Harris, expected to arrive around New Years 2013!

We are SO excited to welcome this bundle of joy, and I am SO excited for the constant nausea to be done! So please forgive me for being out of touch, I've been hugging the toilet or sleeping for the last four weeks straight.

I'm excited for all the support we've already received from our families & close friends, and I've been reading up on all your momma advice on this little blog world! What would we do without eachother? :)
